For 5 innings, the Lady Miner Softball squad put together an offensive explosion against the Bearden Lady Bears. When the dust cleared, Bauxite moved to 2-0 after a 17-0 victory. Bailey Buffington moved to 2-0 on the new season, after throwing a shutout that included 7 strikeouts. She was supported at the plate with 4 hits each by freshmen Destiny McClain (pictured above) and junior Sydney Oliver. Freshmen Taylor Sledd added 3 hits for the second straight game for Bauxite. McClain, sophomores Valery Cotton and Shelby Chavers, and freshmen Ashley Redmon each had 3 RBIs. The Lady Miners have a big week ahead as they are scheduled to travel to Morrilton on Monday, then host Stuttgart (Tuesday), CAC (Thursday), and Beebe (Friday).
